We really do think Windows 8 is great, Intel says
The chip giant issues a statement today rebuffing yesterday's report that CEO Paul Otellini doesn't think Windows 8 is ready yet.
Intel insists Windows 8 is going to be "one of the best things that ever happened to" the company, despite a report yesterday that CEO Paul Otellini questioned the software's readiness.
According to Bloomberg, Otellini told staffers in Taiwan that Microsoft is releasing Windows 8 before it's completely ready. But the Bloomberg report noted that he also said it's the right decision, allowing Microsoft and the PC makers to compete with new products during the key holiday season.
The comments still raised questions, however, about Windows 8, as well as the relationship between Microsoft and Intel.
The chip giant today, while calling the report "unsubstantiated," doesn't completely contradict Bloomberg's article. Instead, it spends quite a bit of time talking about its relationship with Microsoft and how much effort has gone into building Windows 8.
"Intel, Microsoft, and our partners have been working closely together on testing and validation to ensure delivery of a high-quality experience across the nearly 200 Intel-based designs that will start launching in October," the company said in a statement in its online newsroom.
Either way, Intel and Microsoft have likely had a lot to talk about in the past couple of days.
