VSE Update Finder 1.0: a clarification

VSE Update Finder 1.0: a clarification

CNET staff
Yesterday, in describing the just released VSE Update Finder 1.0, we stated (based on our own initial observations) that: "it checks your drive for applications and then will send you regular email informing you of updates to the programs on your drive." This turns out not to be entirely correct (and we have now deleted that text from the item). Johannes Selbach (of VSE-Online) explains:
"I just wanted to clarify that VSE Update Finder does not send regular e-mail informing users of updates to the programs on their drive. We just ask the users to subscribe to our VSE Customer Newsletter in the About box of VSE Update Finder. The VSE Customer Newsletter is published about 1-2 times a month to inform our customers about new applications, new versions of old VSE programs, improved customer support and so on.

VSE Update Finder just lets users search the Internet for new versions of the applications on their hard disk. We have added MacFixIt to the list of reputable search engines that can be searched because we think that MacFixIt offers great benefit for Macintosh users."

The program does check your drive to generate a list of all applications on it. But this is only for your convenience in determining what programs to check for updates. This information is not uploaded to VSE.
