Voyager Mobile set to launch supercheap mobile plan
For just $19 a month, Voyager Mobile will offer unlimited talk and text beginning May 15.
It seems like everyone is getting in on the budget wireless network business. Joining Virgin Mobile, Boost, Metro PCS, and Cricket, newcomer Voyager Mobile also has high hopes in the prepaid mobile phone market. On May 15, the company plans to provide frugal handset users access to extremely affordable service especially considering they don't have to sign onerous contracts to receive service.
For a rock-bottom $19 per month, Voyager will serve up unlimited texts and voice calling. A more compelling plan includes unlimited data, talk, and text but costs a higher $39 per month. One caveat, though, is that Voyager Mobile won't own the cellular infrastructure it will operate upon. Instead, the MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) will spread its service across Sprint's wireless backbone much like Virgin Mobile and Boost currently do (now both owned by Sprint).
Phone blog Phonescoop also asserts that despite the low monthly fees, the handsets potential shoppers will have to choose from won't be too shabby. For example Voyager will sell a roster of what were once heavy smartphone hitters last year including the and Samsung Galaxy Epic 4G Touch.
Of course we won't know all the details until tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. ET when the company plans to reveal all -- it even has a countdown clock and everything. Take a look at Voyager Mobile's Web site for more details.
