Visioneer releases beta version of PaperPort software to work with Mac OS 9

Visioneer PaperPort Strobe/VX 5.0.3has been released. Their web page offers this somewhat cryptic statement: "This file is a beta fix for problems with the PaperPort control panel on Mac OS 9.0. If you have problems with Crashes or Finder errors, this does not resolve those issues and you will need to correct those problems before installing this patch."

A reader points out that this release from Visioneer is a bit of a surprise because ScanSoft is now developing and marketing PaperPort software. "ScanSoft has stated in its Mac User Support Forum that a Mac OS 9 compatible version of PaperPort is in development. No completion date has been promised."
