View Chrome tabs in a vertical list with Veritabs
If you never keep track of how many tabs you're opening in Chrome, or you love working in full-screen mode, this extension is for you.
Do you often open way too many tabs in your Chrome Web browser? Don't feel guilty; when I'm doing research on something, some of the tabs are so tiny that I can barely see their favicons. You may already be aware that there is a huge selection of tab management extensions in the Chrome Web store, each one with the promise of being a great productivity tool. However, Veritabs is a Chrome extension that works just a bit differently from the others, and it's definitely worth a look.
Instead of making you press a button or switch to yet another tab in Chrome, Veritabs creates a list of your currently open tabs and gives you easy access to them. There's no new graphic around the names of the tabs, there are no tree-style menus, just the names of your tabs, in the order you opened them. Ready to check it out?
Head to the Chrome Web Store entry for Veritabs, and click the Add to Chrome button. After the install finishes, you'll want to restart your browser.
When you're browsing the Web, simply move your mouse to the left-hand (or right-hand, depending on settings) edge and you will see a list of your current tabs pop up. If you want the list to stay open while your mouse moves around on a Web page, click the button in the top-left-hand corner of the open page list. And if you want to expand the names, drag the small dots icon at the top right-hand corner to fit text to your liking. You can also disable the extension at any time by clicking the icon in the bookmark toolbar and choosing Deactivate.
One reason this extension is great is because it allows you to work in full-screen mode, and still have access to the tabs you open. Normally, you'd either have to exit full screen and switch tabs, or use the keyboard shortcuts (great if you only have 8 tabs open, not great when you have 20). Let's face it, when you have more than 20 or more tabs, cycling through all of them can be quite silly.
