The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for the return of a missing Iomega external hard drive.

The external hard drive contained sensitive VA-related information on roughly 535,000 people, as well as 1.3 million non-VA physicians, according to a press release issued earlier this month by the VA. The information pertaining to the doctors included public, as well as sensitive information, for physicians who are living, as well as deceased.

The trouble began last month, when an employee in the Birmingham, Ala., VA Medical Center reported the external hard drive was missing. The VA and FBI are investigating the matter and those affected are being notified by the VA.

In the meantime, anyone who comes across the Iomega hard drive may find themselves a little richer in the wallet after collecting the reward.
