Utility Updates

Aladdin will release FlashBack 1.1 next month. The update of this utility for saving multiple versions of a document will feaure: an ability to recover from one to 999 previously saved versions of any FlashBack-protected document (was 99); an increased default setting to 50 saved revised documents (was 20).

Kaleidoscope 1.8.2 is out. It is a maintenance release, fixing crashes under Mac OS 8.1 (triggered by schemes using patterns in menus, the menu bar, or window title bars, and happening most frequently with Virtual Memory turned on), problems with FaxSTF popup menus, progress bar glitches with DiskCopy self-mounting images (such as the Mac OS 8.1 Updater disk image), and several other minor problems.

Anubis Plus adds HFS Plus support CharisMac Engineering has released v. 3.0 of the Anubis Utility disk formatting software today. The new version, called Anubis Plus, adds comprehensive support for Apple's new Mac OS Extended Format, or HFS Plus, found in the release of OS 8.1. Email CharisMac for more details.

Insider Updates 2.5 is out. It runs up to 2.5 times faster.

Adam R. Logghe reports that v.2.13 of the Olympus Digital Camera Utility offers "improvement for serial communication with PowerMac 5500 and PowerMac G3." It is not yet on the Olympus web site, but they should mail it to you if you call them and ask for it.

WebChecker 1.1.0 is out. It's a bug fix version of this utility that automatically checks frequently accessed web sites and reports if there are changes.
