Utilities Updates: Window Monkey, Wired4DVD; Wapp pro; Rearrange Folders; CarbonLib 1.2.5 SDK; more

Window Monkey 1.3.1 adds customizable background patterns to Finder windows and gives users a handy window navigation menu. The update works around a problem in Mac OS 9.1 that caused a conflict with PopChar (as covered in our Troubleshooting Mac OS 9.1 Report). It also fixes a conflict with recent versions of GraphicConverter.

PopChar Pro 1.3.2b2 installs a menu that shows all characters available in the current font. The update fixes the problem where PopChar Pro didn't insert selected characters when Window Monkey was also installed under Mac OS 9.1.

Wired4DVD 1.2.8 is an MPEG and DVD PCI playback card that "allows Macintosh users to view Hollywood movies on either their computer screen or television." The update fixes the conflict with Mac OS 9.1 Control Strip extension and Wired4DVDLib.

WiredStream 1.2.8 is a derivative version of the Wired4DVD decoder (it's just missing the DVDStation application). The update fixes the conflict with Mac OS 9.1 Control Strip extension and Wired4DVDLib.

Wapp pro 3.0b3 displays a menu that lists the windows of the frontmost applications, the background applications and their respective windows in submenus. Use it as an application/window switcher. The update fixes incompatibilities with URL Manager, QuicKeys 5 and A-Dock under Mac OS 8.5.

Rearrange Folders 1.2.1 lets the user to rearrange the windows of folder hierarchies so that they can be neatly stacked when opened in the Finder.

Apple CarbonLib SDK 1.2.5f3 is out. This latest prerelease version of the CarbonLib 1.2.5 SDK for Mac OS is now available to all ADC Members.

CD Folder Partitioner 1.04 has been released. When a folder's content is too big to be directly copied into a CD-R or a Zip, CD Folder Partitioner can automatically split and reorganize the folder content into multiple sub-folders.

Cleaner 5 5.0.2 is a streaming media authoring tool (for CD & DVD too) that handles all the major formats, including QuickTime, RealSystem, Windows Media, MP3, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, AVI and others. The update includes significant fixes and general reliability improvements.

MP3 Rage 3.1 is a useful collection of tools for MP3 enthusiasts. The update adds support for converting Finder comments to ID3 tags, adds support for using iTunes as preferred player, plus several other new features and bug fixes.

MPlay 1.6 is a free multimedia player that supports a wide range of media formats.

SweetMail 2.08d9 is the latest version of this email program that does multiple accounts, threading, etc.

Diamond Rio Volt 1.09fr will update the RioVolt portable MP3/WMA player. It makes the Resume feature active.
