Default Folder 2.9.3 is out. It fixes two problems introduced in the recent version 2.9.2 release: (1) Turning on the "Sort Alphabetically" option would cause some of Default Folder's options to be turned off the next time the Prefs dialog was opened. (2) Default Folder would close its preferences file even if another application still had it open.

PowerLogix G3 Cache Control 1.4.1 still precipitates freeze? Last time, we noted that PowerLogix had released a bug-fix version 1.4.1 of its PowerLogix's G3 Cache Control. However, according to several readers (Fred Stratton, David Mahaffey, and Richard Brock), it still did not fix the freezes seen after installing version 1.4. Freezes occurred both in iMacs and desktop G3 Macs.

Update: Steve Roehl writes: "After I installed PowerLogix G3 Cache Control 1.4.1, my Power Mac G3 also froze upon restarting. But after I restarted with extensions off I opened the G3 Cache Control panel and noticed that I had to reset the computer type in the pop-up window. After that was completed I have not had any problems with freezing."

Tony Aguila found a similar solution: "I was able to resolve the problem by deleting the G3 Cache Prefs file and, after the restart, resetting the control panel to the correct CPU type and bus speed."
