Utilities Updates: AppleShare IP; File Buddy; Scantastic; Mizer; more

AppleShare IP First Aid Tool 6.2is out. AppleShare IP First Aid is a repair and backup utility for AppleShare data files. It can check the integrity of these files as well as make attempts to repair files that may have become corrupted.

File Buddy 5.1.1is now available.

ScanTastic 4.5.5 is the latest version of this scanner driver that works with avariety of scanners. New in this version: "Support for the iMac for HP scanners as well as Photoshop 5 color calibrated previews."

Mizer 1.5.1 is out. It follows the just released version 1.5. Mizer automatically removes unneeded information in HTML and JavaScript syntax making it smaller and more easily parseable by browsers. Version 1.5 is a major upgrade; among other things, it now performs lossless JPEG optimization. Version 1.5.1 includes a few bug fixes, such as one that caused "backup preference settings to be ignored and backup HTML files to always be created."

TypeStyler is up to version 3.43.2. This is still a pre-release demo version. The release version of this program, which is approaching a record for the length of time between announcement and release, is now scheduled for mid-June.

PRAM Battery Checker 1.02is out.

AOL Assistant adds new tools to AOL's software while simultaneously eliminating some problems and limitations with the AOL program. Most especially, it allows users to save or print information that the AOL software can't print at all or cannot print without first having to go to a special, printable page.

Griffin Technology's Simple DDC 1.2 has been posted. This is a free program that allows users to read Plug and Play information contained in recent Mac and PC displays. It can be especially useful for getting correct color calibration information.

AdvanSys Ultra Wide SCSI card 3.22 is a firmware update that provides G3/BW compatibility for these cards.

FastEmailCheck Pro 1.11b3 has been released. New for this version is that you can choose to delete a mail you don't want and you can also choose to download you mail to a local folder on your computer.

PictureSnooper98 1.2 can be used to located and download binary files from newsgroups.

Distillage for Mac OS 2.0: Expect a maintenance update to 2.1 by the end of this week.
