USB Troubleshooting: Entrega and iMate follow-ups

We received several follow-ups to our previous report on USB troubleshooting. In general, they reported success with the devices mentioned:

Entrega USB hub

Updating to Mac OS 9 fixed the problem Bryce Bolling was having with his Entrega hub and iMac DV SE.

Jerry Tompkins has also used the hub successfully (although he did have a problem with his Que! USB CDR drive). He advises to make sure you are using the latest USB drivers from Apple. Regarding the issue of whether the hub is the same as Xircom's PortGear, he adds: "The 4-port PortGear hub doesn't even resemble my Entrega hub." None-the-less, their web page describes it as "PortGear (formerly Entrega)."

iMate

Steve Lombardi writes: "I'm using the iMate on my Yikes G4 and it works perfectly. It's connected to my G4 Mac via a 4-port Entrega hub, along with 3 other USB devices (the Mac USB keyboard is connected directly to the G4). I can easily wake the G4 from system sleep by hitting any key on the USB keyboard."

Vern Klukas similarly adds: "I have been using an iMate without problem on a 400 AGP G4 Running OS 9. I'm using a Macally 4 port hub, and I have the iMate plugged into it. I also have the keyboard plugged directly into the Mac. At first, with the keyboard plugged into the hub and the iMate plugged direct, everything worked except power on/shutdown dialog was not available from the keyboard power switch. The iMate driver I'm using is version 1.8b1."

Julian Koiles also confirms that the iMate is working fine with G4s, at least when connected to a USB hub.

and finally... Ric Getter was having some difficulties using an ADB keyboard and mouse connected to his G4 via the iMate. A thread on Griffin's Discussion Board has a reply from Griffin tech support. This board is a good place to check for reports of a variety of other problems with Griffin products.
