USB Overdrive works-around Kensington mouse crashes

CNET staff
Jeremy West is a satisfied user of USB Overdrive. He writes: "I have been using the Kensington 2 button mouse with the scroll wheel for about 2 weeks now and the software for it locked up my G4 on OS 9 every time. Kensington's web site lists version 5.31 as the latest version, but they said to use it at my peril since they know it causes freezing. So I tried USB Overdrive and it works with the mouse flawlessly!" Note: Here is what the Kensington web page states: "We are providing both version 5.30 and 5.31 of MouseWorks for Macintosh at this time. While version 5.30 does not support correct operation of scroll wheels under Mac OS 9, it is known to be reliable. Version 5.31 added support for scroll wheels under OS 9, but some users have reported random crashes with version 5.31 installed that did not occur with version 5.30. We are working hard to discover the cause of these crashes, and we will release an updated version to solve both problems as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience."
