With the Android Market continuing to fill up with funky new apps any improvement to its search function are welcomed with open arms.

Our colleagues at Android Atlas have got their hands on screenshots from an anonymous tipster showing the new look Android Market running on the soon-to-be-announced Motorola Sholes. The screenshots show a new colour scheme, trading black for white, and a repositioning of the free and paid app filters to a central position on the search results screen.

While the tipster didn't describe any new features in the refresh, they did tell Android Atlas that the fresh coat of paint was running on an unreleased Donut build of Android, meaning this update should be available to owners of current Android handsets when the OS update occurs. Other improvements rumoured to be included in the update from version 1.5 to version 2.0 include a universal search function and rumours of multi-touch support.
