Unwrapping Christmas, A Few Months Early

Un-boxing the Palm Pre is like tearing open the gift you think is a cd, and finding that plus a gift card to cover the home theater system you've been drooling over!

As a mom who works from home and uses technology daily to connect both socially and professionally, I am really excited about the Palm Pre.

I'm currently the owner of a Samsung Instinct, and while I applaud Samsung for some of the Instinct's advanced features I've been disappointed with it's slow run time, lack of applications for business users and a real keyboard. Palm's specialty is keeping business people organized and connected. The Pre promises to be a breath of fresh air.

It's still hard for me to believe I was chosen to review such a sought after, talked about and anticipated phone...

The box itself is a work of art. With one corner cut at an angle, the box can be set up to display the contents. The slipcover for the box has the same cut, making the packaging simple, yet very sleek.

You know from the moment you see the box, something special is waiting to be discovered.

All of the packaging is simply sleek. There is no clutter or unnecessary paper. Everything is white or orange and the black phone and cords contrast well. I feel like Palm did a good job at really highlighting the phone by keeping the packaging minimal.

I was so excited to open the box and lift the Palm Pre out of it's nest. It really does feel and look like a river rock. I like that the Pre is unique. Palm didn't try to make it look like the iPhone...

I got a good laugh when I tried to turn the phone on. A power cord and plug image with a question mark showed as if to say "Got Power?" Quickly as I could I got the Pre plugged in and turned on. Then I followed the online instructions to set up my Palm Account. I was tickled that it could be done right from the phone! In a matter of 2 minutes I was able to use the phone to make a call!

I look forward to exploring the ins and outs of the Palm Pre, comparing it to my previous phones, showing it off to friends and family, and sharing it all with you!
