Universal signs deal with comedy site

Universal Music Group said it has inked a deal with Laugh.com, a provider of comedy content over the Internet, to provide comedy titles from Universal's catalog. Under the deal, Universal's sound recordings will be streamed on demand to comedy fans of Laugh.com's service, which provides people with unlimited access to comedy skits and performances via the Web. The licensed titles to be featured include The Jerky Boys, Richard Pryor and Dennis Leary. Pacific Grove, Calif.-based Laugh.com was launched in March with a group of comedians, including George Carlin and Jonathan Winters. Universal, a unit of Vivendi Universal, comprises record labels such as MCA Records, Motown Records and A&M Records.
