UMAX replies on support for OS X

Several readers sent us the latest email reply from UMAX regarding upcoming OS X support for their scanners. It states:

"Umax Technologies will support its current professional-grade scanners under Apple’s new OS 10.X operating environment. The models included are: PowerLook III, PowerLook 2100XL, PowerLook 1100 and PowerLook 3000. Umax currently has made no commitment to supporting older professional models under OS X at this time. Also, no consumer-level (Astra models, or older consumer-level) scanners will be targeted for support under OS X."

This differs from the statement (previously noted on MacFixIt) on this UMAX page which states that there will be OS X support for Astra scanners. In any case, UMAX appears to be in no hurry to get any OS X drivers released.
