Twitter's comms chief flies the coop after just five months

Natalie Kerris, Twitter's vice president for global communications, is leaving the company after a little more than five months on the job.

Kerris' departure, which was first reported by BuzzFeed, was confirmed Monday evening in a statement from the San Francisco-based social-networking company.

"During her time leading communications at Twitter, Natalie helped us share the Twitter story with the world. We are grateful for her energy and enthusiasm and the impact she's had, even in this short time," a Twitter spokesperson said. "We wish her all the best."

Kerris did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The departure comes as Twitter struggles to prove its value to investors. Last month, the company reported a 1 percent increase in the number of monthly active users in the second quarter, rising to 313 million from 310 million. Unimpressed investors have pushed the company's stock down nearly 50 percent in the past 52 weeks.

Kerris' departure comes less than seven months after a major management shakeup at Twitter in January that saw the departures of head of media Katie Jacobs Stanton, product chief Kevin Weil, engineering chief Alex Roetter and human resources leader Brian "Skip" Schipper.
