Twitter lets you look back at 2013's land of tweets
The company has published a retrospective examining the big Twitter stories from each month, as well as hot topics in news, entertainment, and sports.
It's that time of the year: Just about every social site will be sharing the big stories that happened on their services in 2013. And Twitter is no different.
The social company has published a 2013 retrospective, allowing folks to check out some of the biggest stories that hit its network over the last year. The #2013 pane looks at the hottest topics each month, like the Academy Awards in February and the Boston Marathon bombings in April. Each month includes fast facts and some of the most popular tweets around a given subject. On the Boston Marathon bombings, Twitter says 27 million tweets were published discussing the bombings and the manhunt.
Twitter's retrospective also examines areas of interest, including news, entertainment, and sports. Again, Twitter highlights some of the top stories across a wide array of subjects in each category.
One other interesting tidbit: Twitter published the most-shared tweets of the year. Actress Lea Michele's post thanking her fans for their support following the loss of her co-star Cory Monteith was retweeted over 408,000 times. Paul Walker's staff announcing his death was retweeted over 400,000 times.
