Tumblr is on a roll.
The company's founder and CEO David Karp spoke at the Digital Life Design (DLD) Conference in Munich earlier today, and revealed that Tumblr is visited by over 120 million unique users each month, helping it tally over 15 billion monthly pageviews. What's more, the nearly 42 million microblogs currently in operation are re-blogged via RSS, Twitter, and Facebook an average of nine times, dramatically expanding their footprint across the Web.

Just four months ago, Tumblr announced that it was generating 13 billion monthly pageviews and had 30 million blogs. So far today, that figure stands at nearly 61.5 million. Back in September, Nielsen revealed that.
As one might expect, venture capitalists haven't missed that. In fact, just days after Nielsen revealed its findings,and Insight Venture Partners. The investment more than doubled the $40 million Tumblr had raised in several previous financing rounds.
Tumblr said that it will use the funds to "continue to scale our business and give real focus to the further development." However, as with any startup, Tumblr will need to find a way to monetize its growth and start sustaining itself. According to All Things Digital, which reported on the DLD conference, Karp said that his company is working on "novel approaches to revenue." One of the ideas Tumblr has come up with: selling blog themes.
