Troubleshooting Xserve: Server Monitor Workaround

Tomas Engin reports a possible workaround for a problem we reported yesterday, in which the Server Monitor software component included with Apple's Xserve failed to function from either the Xserve itself or a client machine.

"I solved a similar problem on one of our customers machine by editing the file "/etc/hostconfig". I changed the line "HOSTNAME=hostname" to "HOSTNAME=hostname.domain" (same as specified in the DNS)."
