Troubleshooting Safari 1.0 Beta 2 (v73): Pith Helmet conflict; More on distorted pages; Tabs and third party themes

CNET staff

Pith Helmet conflict If you've installed Pith Helmet, a utility that adds content filtering and ad blocking to Safari, delete it and all associated files before trying to run the new v73 Beta. If you want a completely clean installation, delete the com.apple.Safari.plist file, move your bookmark.plist out of the Safari folder in the Library and delete the folder, and clean your cache. Then run Safari v73, replace the new Booklist.plist file with your old version.

More on distorted pages Deleting the com.apple.safari.plist preferences file and re-installing a fresh copy of Safari v73 also seems to solve page distortion issues - including needlessly zoomed text and page garbling.

Tabs and third party themes For users having problems using tabs in the new release of Safari, you may want to try disabling third party themes that have been installed by any of the enhancement applications available.
