We have received several reports of potential problems with Personal Organizer 3.03: Regarding printer port errors and Organizer (see previous item), Ivan Ivancin received this explanation and suggested solution from Chronos Support: When either the Listener or Engine is activated, it opens up an AppleTalk communication. On some computers and with some printers the AppleTalk is activated, and the port that is selected in the AppleTalk Control Panel (whether you've got the AppleTalk Control Panel enable or disabled it doesn't matter) AppleTalk is activated on the port. Thus, you're unable to print with certain printers. All we do is activate an AppleTalk communication between Personal Organizer and the Organizer Engine via Open Transport. We have no control over what goes on in the AppleTalk Control Panel. Solution: The only solution to this problem that we know of is to enable the AppleTalk Control Panel if you have disabled it. Then go into the AppleTalk Control Panel and change the port that AppleTalk is to monitor whether active or inactive. In your case, you may want to choose Ethernet. We will continue to investigate this situation and to see if there is anything that we can do, but for the time being the above solution is the only solution. Jules Mimeault reports similar AppleTalk-related problems and solutions, such as: "When AppleTalk is not active, I had to select Remote Only from the AppleTalk control panel for Personal Organizer 3.0. to launch properly." Virginia Lindsey kept getting Type 2 errors when trying to run a PowerPoint presentation. Disabling Organizer Listener and Organizer Engine, the two background extensions from Personal Organizer 3.03 eliminated the errors.
