Password Problem Workaround Yesterday we reported email password problems in Entourage after applying the Office v.X update. Bob Towner offers a simple workarond:

"I solved the problem in the following manner. I deleted the Keychain file for for my personal Home account. The pathway was Users / Home Account / Library / Keychains / home account. Presto! I was back in business after I re-entered all of my email account passwords. Also, you must re-enter all of your other save Keychain passwords."

Netscape 7.0 affected? Tim Pollak reports that his copy of Netscape 7.0 was adversely affected by applying the Office v.x 10.1.1 update:

"After updating Office X to 10.1.1 under Mac OS X 10.2.1 on my system, Netscape 7.0 suddenly fails to display browser windows except for a quarter inch vertical white line. Any windows opened from the bookmarks menu are listed in the window menu, but can't be seen. The Mail Windows and Composer Windows display normally. Erasing the Netscape preferences and rebooting did not solve the problem."

UPDATE: Steve Dagley of Netscape Communications' technical staff submitted sent MacFixIt a workaround for the window rendering issue:

"The problem reported with a Netcsape 7.0 browser window being reduced to a vertical line is usually indicative of a corrupted 'localstore.rdf' file in the user's Profile directory. Quitting Netscape 7.0/Mozilla, deleting this file and then relaunching should solve the problem. The path to the file will be "~/Library/Mozilla/Profiles/<profile name>/<random text>.slt/localstore.rdf'."

The window rendering issue may not be directly related to Office v.x 10.1.1 installation, as a number of users have experienced the problem without applying the Microsoft update.
