Troubleshooting iTunes 1.1: CDDB glitch remains; Keyspan bug fixed; UMAX scanner problem fixed?; more

CNET staff
CDDB glitch remains Andrew Treloar writes: "The latest version of iTunes still won't make a CDDB connection through an authenticating proxy server (i.e., one that asks for username and password). The only CD player that works correctly with an authenticating proxy server (AFAIK) is NetCD." [But see this web page for a possible solution.]

Keyspan bug fixed Tim Kellogg writes: "The problem where iTunes wouldn't launch when the software for the Keyspan Digital Media Remote is installed is gone in iTunes 1.1 - the Remote even works with iTunes itself, as long as it's set up properly in the Keyspan software."

UMAX scanner problem fixed? Andrew Lewis writes: "It seems iTune 1.1 eliminates the UMAX scanner conflict. I can now have all my UMAX extensions and Control Strip active and iTunes does not crash on launch." F. Todd Wilson confirms this.

Random play improved Jonathan Baumgartner writes: "iTunes 1.1 seems to have addressed the shuffle play glitch, where iTunes was always using the same shuffle order. Now I get different track orders every time I launch iTunes."
