Troubleshooting iSync: System Error 13 Permission denied

CNET staff

MacFixIt reader Jim Reffner writes "Suddenly (and for no apparent reason) iSync does not work. When trying to synchronize my .Mac, iPod, and Motorola v60c phone, I get the following message: 'System error 13 Permission denied.'

Several readers have corroborated this problem on Apple's Discussion boards.

In many cases, when an application starts displaying permissions errors with no known probable cause, a preference file has become corrupt. Fortunately, Apple provides iSync Uninstall 1.0, which will remove files associated with the use of iSync software. This includes the main application as well as libraries, frameworks, installation receipts and user-associated files (Preferences, SyncServices data, etc...). Files related to the use of HotSync software within iSync will also be removed.

Though the uninstall application is listed as supporting only the beta version of iSync, it should work properly on the current version of the software, 1.1.

You can then download and re-install iSync.
