Troubleshooting iSync 1.1 (#2): Palm, Handspring problems

CNET staff

We are receiving a handful of reports indicating problems with various Palm and Handspring PDA models after users have upgraded to iSync 1.1. MacFixIt reader Frank Sinz writes:

"After installing iSync 1.1 via Software updater I cannot sync my Visor anymore. I even the installed newest version of Palm software. After enabling iSync in the HotSync Manager conduit settings and closing HotSync Manager the Visor is disabled again."

Downgrading to iSync 1.0 seems to be the only viable option at this point. Steve Siegel writes:

"After installing iSync 1.1 I was unable to sync my Palm m515, using Palm Desktop 4.0. iSync could not find the Palm handheld, even with the right box checked in Conduits. I uninstalled and went back to iSync 1.0 - and now the Palm works again."

Many users have had success syncing their Palm/Handspring models after installing the iSync 1.1 Palm Conduit, which Apple describes below:

"To synchronize the information on your Palm OS device, Palm Desktop 4.0 (or later) must be installed before installing iSync 1.1 Palm Conduit. The iSync 1.1 Palm Conduit will deactivate your contact, calendar and to-do conduits so be sure to do a final HotSync before installation."
