Troubleshooting iPod Updater 2.0.1: Safe-booting allows installation in some cases

CNET staff

In some instances, users may not be able to apply the iPod Updater 2.0.1 unless they are booted into "safe" mode - accomplished by holding the Shift key during startup.

Some users who did not boot into safe mode before applying the update were presented with a stalled dialog box stating that their iPod had been updated to version 2.0.1 and was in the process of restarting.

In these cases, the iPod displayed the standard "Do not disconnect" message, but never moved past that point.
