Preferences Greyed Out Michiel Houtman, along with several other posters to VersionTracker's user reviews section, report that the menubar selection "Preferences" is greyed out and therefore inaccessible in the recently released IomegaWare 4.0.2 update. Houtman reports receiving this response from Iomega's technical support department regarding the issue:

"I understand that Iomega Tools 1.0 grayed out in the 'Preferences' menu while using Zip drive on Mac OS 10.2.x . I regret for the inconvenience, As you have mentioned that you have downloaded IomegaWare version 4.0.2 which was available on Iomega website then please note that it is only a test version for Mac OS 10.2.x . Iomega is continuously working with Apple to remove some bugs from the software. Very soon Iomega will release a enhanced version of this software. Till then you may not be able to use Iomega tools with your Zip drive. However I have forwarded your valuable to suggestion to our software team so that we can look closely in to this matter."

Alfred Affected? MacFixIt reader Matt reports that installing the latest Iomega update adversely affected the shareware tool Alfred, a manager for items stored in the Mac OS X library and other locations. Matt reports that the contextual menu for Alfred simply displays "Contextual Menu item" instead of "Install with Alfred" after applying the Iomega update.

The latest update to the IomegaWare software, 4.0.2, adds 750 MB drive support and a Mac OS X native Tools application.

Under Mac OS X 10.2.x, Iomega drives may exhibit strange behavior including treating media as read-only disks; selectively reading only HFS or HFS formatted media; and dramatically slower transfer speeds, especially with PC formatted disks.
