Troubleshooting Global Village Modems and Mac OS 8.0/8.1

We have previously covered a problem with Global Village PC cards not working (possibly even causing a freeze) in a PowerBook 3400 running Mac OS 8.1 after a "wake-from-sleep" (see a and b). Roger Davies contacted Global Village about this issue. In reply, he received a troubleshooting email document that covered this and other Mac OS 8.0/8.1 issues. While much of the material has been mentioned before, it is still a useful up-to-date summary. Thus, we have posted this document as aMacFixIt Extra.
