Troubleshooting Eudora 5.1.1

CNET staff
Regarding the recently released Eudora 5.1.1 update:

Can't install We have several reports of hangs/crashes occurring during an attempt to install the Eudora update. Not all users have this problem, but a significant number do. For example, Fred Trinkoff writes:

"No matter what I've done I cannot get Eudora 5.1.1 to install. I've downloaded the installer several times and every time, after I click Agree on the license agreement, I get a spinning beach ball for about a minute, then a skinny, small window begins to appear and I get an unexpectedly quit message."

No message closing? William Du Bois adds: "Eudora 5.1.1 for Mac OS X does not close a message when I send it. The beta version did not have this problem."

Eudora SSL on OS X Ron Risley writes: "For those who must use SSL, want to use Eudora, and are tired of having to open it in Classic, I have prepared a tutorial for tunneling Eudora through OpenSSL on OS X. It isn't for the faint of heart, but it works great once you're done."
