Troubleshooting AppleWorks 6.1.2

Spreadsheet bug work-around Regarding the AppleWorks 6.1.2 spreadsheet bug noted yesterday, Joe Borzellino replies: "It is not necessary to startup from Mac OS 9.1 to avoid the bug. Instead launch the Classic version of AW 6.1.2 from within OS X. To do this, find the AW application icon in OS X. Control-click and select to "Show Package Contents." Navigate to a folder that says Mac OSClassic. In that folder is the Classic version of AW 6.1.2. Double-click that icon or make an alias and put it somewhere convenient. This will load the classic version of AW."

Other problems in AW 6.1.2? Meanwhile, Greg Sims reports other problems with AW 6.1.2 (as yet not confirmed by others): (1) an inability to format a legal-sized document in landscape mode and (2) if you use the "Find" command to locate a particular record in a database, then click on the field you wish to find, and enter a number or name, the program crashes. The latter bug only occurs in the OS X version.

Update: Ralph Fontcuberta adds: "When I print to PDF under AppleWorks (native in X), and the document is oriented as landscape, it saves it as a landscape document fine, but the orientation will not budge from portrait. In other words, it saves it to where it can be printed fine, but would be damn hard to read on the screen."
