Sprocket joystick/gamepad problems A couple of readers report that gamepad and joysticks no longer worked after installing the USB Card Support 1.3.5:
David Jackson writes that, after installing 1.3.5, "the InputSprocket would not recognize the joystick I'm using, though it did show up in the 'Profiler'. I went back to USB Card Support 1.2, and it all worked fine."

Similarly, Marcus Albers, using a Keyspan USB PCI card on his 7500 running Mac OS 8.6, writes "I installed the 1.3.5 drivers, and GameSprockets refused to recognize my Gravis GamePad, although a look at the Apple System Profiler showed that the pad was recognized by the system. I uninstalled all USB software and re-installed from scratch. This took care of the problem."

Other problems Readers reported avariety of other symptoms, almost all of which were remedied by downgrading to the previous 1.2 version of the USB Card software.

Damian Grabowski found that the new USB Card Support 1.3.5 drivers slowed down the overall performance of his G3.

Sergio Orrao began having system crashes on his G3 after installing the update (he uses a Keyspan USB PCI card). Reverting to version 1.2 fixed the symptoms.

Brian Opitz found that the update did not work with "Mac OS 9 in a 6500 using a Belkin F5U005-MAC USB adapter. This adapter uses the same Opti Firelink OpenHCI controller chip that's on the logic board of G3 B&W Macs. The OS pops up an error dialog after the desktop appears stating that the USB Support extension has been disabled. Reverting to USB Support version 1.2 restores functionality."

Good news Several readers did report that the Update allowed devices to work that previous versions did not. For example, Simon Cousins found: "This new update is the first version to allow support for the Lexmark Optra E310 USB PostScript laser printer via the Macally PCI USB card. All previous versions (including hacked DDK versions) failed to see the printer."
