Troubleshooting AOL for Mac OS X: Router issue

Troubleshooting AOL for Mac OS X: Router issue

CNET staff

America Online's technical support department has confirmed a bug in the Mac OS X beta of AOL that prevents the client from connecting through a router. Users must link machines to their own, individual uplink in order to connect.

Barry Diamond writes:

"I have two Macs on a shared DSL line connected with a router. Both Macs have been able to connect to AOL 5.0 in Classic. Both Macs have been able to get full access to the Internet using IE, Netscape, and Safari. Neither Mac could EVER connect to AOL for Mac OS X. Yesterday, I disconnected one Mac from the router, plugged it into the DSL Modem directly, changed the Network settings on that Mac to use PPPoE, and for the first time, connected to AOL for Mac OS X."

An AOL technical representative offered: "That is a Known Issue. We are working on a fix."
