Treo in retail outlets throughout U.S.

Handspring announced Monday that its Treo 180 communicators are now available nationwide in U.S. retail stores. The company is selling the combination cell phone and handheld through Best Buy, Staples and CompUSA. The device was previously available through regional retailers Fry's Electronics, J&R Music & Computer World, and through Amazon.com. The Treo is available in Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Sweden, Norway and New Zealand and will be introduced in Canada, Malaysia, the Netherlands and Switzerland in the coming months. The Treo devices run on the wireless networks of Cingular and VoiceStream Wireless. Handspring also announced that beginning the first week of April, Cingular will sell the Treo on its Web site and will also be licensing Handspring's Blazer Web browser.
