Jupitermedia's Internetnews.com posted details of PalmOne's highly anticipated Treo 650 a week early. As previously reported, the handheld maker is expected to announce the follow-up device to the Treo 600 next week, giving the company the beginnings of a family of such devices. PalmOne's president, Ed Colligan, is giving a keynote speech at the upcoming CTIA conference in San Francisco next Monday.

In addition to a high-resolution display, Bluetooth connectivity and improved digital camera with a 2x digital zoom, the Treo 650 will also use flash memory, as does the Tungsten T5, enabling the device to retain information even after its battery has run out, according to Internetnews, which has since taken the story down. The story also had direct quotes from a PalmOne director of product marketing.

PalmOne representatives said they did not have a Monday announcement and would ask the site to pull the story.

The Treo 650 also has a new connector, making it compatible with other PalmOne devices--except for the Treo 600. It will also come with a new e-mail application that supports Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, IMAP and POP.
