Toshiba on Tuesday launched its first Media Center PC in the United States. The company added Microsoft's Windows XP software to its top-of-the line Satellite 5205 notebook to create the new model. Dubbed Satellite 5205-S705, it includes a TV tuner with a remote control, a DVD burner and a built-in speaker set with a subwoofer.

Toshiba says customers can use the notebook to record and view TV shows as well as view and edit movies. The $2,699 notebook also incorporates a UXGA or 1600-by-1200-pixel 15-inch display, a 2.4GHz Pentium 4-M processor from Intel, 512MB of RAM (random access memory), a 60GB hard drive and Nvidia's GeForce FX Go5600 graphics processor.
