Tom Cruise seems to have misread the time on his boarding pass in the first trailer for "Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation". It happens to the best of us, Tom, but you probably wouldn't find me clinging to the outside of the plane as it takes off.

The fifth film in the super-spy series sees the Impossible Mission Force once again leaving a trail of mashed motorbikes, battered bad guys and eye-popping explosions across Europe and the world. "The Syndicate is real", intones Cruise's top secret agent Ethan Hunt, describing a "rogue nation, trained to do what we do." And then just in case you haven't got it, Simon Pegg is on hand to explain that the bad guys are "an anti-IMF".

While it looks like Cruise is once again struggling to keep his shirt on, "Shaun of the Dead" and "Star Trek" star Pegg appears to go through a variety of costumes, from black tie to Hawaiian shirt to a furry ghillie suit. M:I former agents Ving Rhames and blandest-man-in-Hollywood Jeremy Renner are also back on the team.

Alec Baldwin is onboard as a stuffed shirt trying to shut down the IMF, as well as Swedish/ British actress Rebecca Louise Ferguson from "The White Queen" and "Hercules". Cruise's "Jack Reacher" director and " Edge of Tomorrow" writer Christopher McQuarrie is in the director's chair.

"Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation" is in normal-sized and IMAX theatres on 31 July.
