Toast Deluxe 4.1: problems with installation and beyond

CNET staff
Many many users (including Tom Barrett, Daniel Sass, Philip Smith and Michael Stupinski) are reporting problems getting the new Adaptec Toast Deluxe 4.1 update to install (see also yesterday's item). Typically they get an error message indicating a Toast Update Error 11002:2,-14 or 11002:2,-15. Rick Camp claims you can avoid this error by reinstalling the original Toast 4.0 application and then directly applying the update. When you open the updated application for the first time, you also have to reenter your name and serial number. Peter Gordon failed to get the update to install even when trying this work-around. Similarly, postings from other users, in this MacFixIt Forums thread, indicates that most (although not all) readers had success with this work-around. Other advice is also offered. Karl Hesse did get the update to install successfully. However, another problem remained: "Using Toast 3.5.7, no problems. Toast 4.0.2: after burning a normal Mac volume CD, no verify is possible, Mac freezes. Using Toast 4.1 the same problem appears." Stan Ford writes that installing the update "caused my Que! FireWire drive not to be recognized until I disabled the old Que! extensions." Lewis Jenkins reports the same problem with his "FireWire Que! 4/4/24;" reverting to Toast 4.0.2 solved it (not sure if Stan's solution would have also worked).
