Toast 4.1.2 and 3COM ISDN LAN modem conflict?

CNET staff
Dave Honor reports that upgrading Toast to version 4.1.2 caused slowdowns and dropouts with his ISDN connection: "I use a 3COM ISDN LAN modem to feed the internet to two G4 Power Macs. Prior to the upgrade, the connection was trouble-free. However, after upgrading to Toast 4.1.2, the machine used for CD burning experienced significant problems. Often a page would stop with an error message which said the DNS entry is unavailable. One typical example: I would access a site, go to another site for a few minutes, then return to the previous site only to be told either there is no DNS entry or be forced to wait minutes for the page to reload. Disabling the Toast 4.1.2 extension fixed the slowdown. I have since switched back to Toast 4.1.1 and everything is working normally once again." Update: Reader replies suggest that there is likely more to this matter than indicated by the above report. For example, Dave Hamilton writes: "As far as the computer is concerned, there's no way that it would know the difference between connecting to an ISDN LAN Modem and connecting to a cable modem (or an Ethernet hub for that matter)." We are investigating this further.
