Tip of the Day: Conflict Catcher 8's system heap warning

If you look in the Size column of the Conflict Catcher 8 control panel, some sizes may be in bold face. If you click these items, the detailed information will include this message:

Warning! This file using more memory in the system heap at start up than it is requesting. You may want to disable this file if you are experiencing problems with your system.

I generally do not take this message very seriously. On occasion, I have had several files with this warning and I don't think I have ever had a problem that turned out to be due to this issue.

Still, if you are having any problems of unknown cause, disabling these extensions would be a good first step. In any case, there is no way that an end user can fix the source of the error message. The only permanent solution is via an updated version of the offending software. (Thanks also to Kurt Bucheit.)
