Magazine publisher Time Inc. is getting into the streaming media business.

The company is launching its first streaming video network based on content from its popular entertainment magazines, People and Entertainment Weekly. The network, which is free due to advertising support, is called People/Entertainment Weekly Network, or PEN for short, and goes live on Tuesday.

The online network is available for streaming from platforms like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Google Chromecast. It will start with more than 50 hours of existing programming from Time Inc., including the Emmy-nominated documentary series "A Year in Space." The network will also roll out more than 300 hours of new programming throughout the year, which will include 15 original series. Some of the highlights from its first week of streaming include major interviews with Jimmy Kimmel, Patrick Dempsey and Rory Feek. It will also offer a documentary on children who lost parents they never knew during 9/11, as well as a special about the Emmys red carpet.

"PEN is designed to be a network for the future with its premium long-form video delivered directly to consumers through multiple platforms and channels," Rich Battista, president of Time Inc. brands, said in a statement.
