"International Utilities Not Present" Error During Startup Apple TIL article #25003 explains what to do if you get a system crash at startup with a messages that says: "Sorry, a system error occurred. International Utilities not present..." This happens during the Disk First Aid check of the disk. The work-around is thus to disable the check by turning off the "Warn me if computer was shut down improperly" option in the General Controls panel. Then run Disk First Aid after startup is over. After it fixes whatever problems it finds, you can turn the warning back on, if desired. [Note: we have previously covered this matter in our Troubleshooting Mac OS 8.6 report.]
