This blazer, scarf and jacket could foil photos
The Anti-Paparazzi Collection can keep you from showing up in photos if you're famous (or just want to pretend you are).
As a famous writer for CNET, I tend to travel in a constant orb of flashes from paparazzi trying to grab a photo of me.
OK, that's not at all true, but if it were, I'd certainly be interested in getting a hold of the Anti-Paparazzi Collection -- a blazer, scarf and jacket made with reflective threads that bounce the light from a flash back to the photographer's camera, essentially ruining the photo.
Right now, the collection is being proposed on Betabrand's Thinktank platform. If it proves successful with fans of the site, the company will make a prototype and the clothes will move to full crowdfunding for production.
The clothing line was developed by Chris Holmes, a DJ who regularly serves as the opening act for Paul McCartney's live shows.
"After wearing reflective clothing to several performances, I noticed that photos from the shows always looked odd because the flash that bounced off my clothing would wash out the rest of the photo," he says on the site. "While I wasn't thrilled that many of these photos were ruined because of my clothing, it gave me the epiphany that perhaps I could use this technology for a greater purpose. That's what led me to create the Anti-Paparazzi Collection, which uses reflective threads to render paparazzi-shot photos worthless -- perfect for those who don't want their pictures taken."
While the clothes certainly scuttle photos -- as you can see in the image below -- I think I just might like to wear the duds so I can tell people that the strange glow they see around me in their photos comes from my having been born in a galaxy far, far away.
