ZDNet reports that Napster's subscription base has decreased 7 percent over the March quarter (as of June 30, 2006, Napster had 512,000 paid subscribers). Napster CEO Chris Gorog in a conference call with analysts said he wasn't going to rule out the sale of the company. Napster reported a net loss of $9.8 million for the first fiscal quarter compared with a year-earlier loss of $19.9 million. Do you think music subscription services are doomed, or do you think there's a solid place for them (as I believe)?
