Broadband speeds keep rising. When will they stop?

Road Runner subscribers will get a late Christmas present when Time Warner Cable cranks up its download speed to 5mbps, up 67 percent from its previous speed limit. Cox already gives its broadband customers 4mbps, and it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination if Comcast next year follows suit. The cable industry moves like an inch worm--the head stretches in one direction and the rear catches up.

DSL prices continue to hover at about $30 a month, and cable speed continue to rise. Could this be a golden age for broadband customers?
