This MacFixIt Forums thread discusses the mystery surrounding reports that Macs are contacting an Apple location named littlebuddy.apple.com. littlebuddy linked to Network Time Server? Coincidentally, Marc Hoffman (of the OS Emulation HomePage) sent us a note pointing to an alt.hacintosh thread on the same littlebuddy matter. He adds that he used NetBarrier firewall software to block all incoming and outgoing access to littlebuddy (IP address of 17.254.0.60). "Not long afterward, I noticed that my Network Time Server settings started failing. The Date and Time control panel told me that it was unable to access the network server to reset the clock on my machine. I thought that there might be a connection, and so I turned the firewall off and then retried the network time server. Sure enough, things worked just fine. It thus seems that this littlebuddy.apple.com has something to do with the network time server synchronization." littlebuddy linked to Setup Assistant And as noted last time, a TIL article on the subject (#25206) also mentions littlebuddy.apple.com, stating that it is used by Setup Assistant to transmit registration information.
