'Hobbit' trailer shows a Middle-earth gearing up for battle

Debuting at Comic-Con, the new trailer for "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" shows orcs, dwarves, elves, humans, and of course the dragon getting ready for a grand conflict.

Comic-Con attendees were treated to the first teaser trailer for the upcoming finale of Peter Jackson's " The Hobbit" trilogy this weekend, and based on what we've seen, the finale is going to be pretty epic. The trailer shows a Middle-earth gearing up for battle, with humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, and wizards, not to mention a hobbit and a dragon, all readying for an epic showdown.

The trailer reprises "The Edge of Night," the song Pippin sang in "The Return of the King" as Faramir, son of Denethor, the Steward of Gondor, and his crew were cut down as they attempted to reclaim the orc-occupied city of Osgiliath. By including the track, the trailer really sets the tone for the final film, and there will certainly be trying times ahead for our heroes in the impending battle.

We can't wait to see how it all unfolds in theaters. "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" is set to hit theaters in the UK on December 12, followed by a broader, international release that includes the US on December 17 and Australia on December 26.
