Terms of Service; Didn't Read

A new website aims to clean up website terms of service to make them easier to understand.

OK. Hands up if you ever read the Terms of Service before signing up to a new website. Anyone? That's because they're long and boring and so loaded with jargon, and you want to start downloading games from Steam now, thank you very much.

ToS;DR (Terms of Service; Didn't Read) has set about fixing what it calls the biggest lie on the internet; to wit: "I have read and agree to the terms".

It lists, in very simple format, the terms and conditions of some of the most popular websites on the internet, including Twitter, Steam, Google, Apple, Amazon and Facebook; and some not-so-popular ones. Is anyone even still using Myspace?

You can then click on an "expand" button to see each of the bullet-pointed terms explained in more detail. "Right to leave the service" under Twitter becomes "Even if you deactivate your account or if your account is closed, Twitter still has all the rights on your Content. However, after 30 days, Twitter begins to delete your account", in a pop-up menu.

We kind of knew that one, but some of the others here might surprise you. For example, did you know that you don't have the right to completely delete your World of Warcraft account?

If you want to drill down still further, you can then choose to visit the full terms of service page for each website listed.

It's still a work in progress, but we're very impressed by what we see. Clarity can only ever be a good thing.
