Telstra announced its range of iPhone 5s and 5c plans late on Friday. The plans show the iPhone 5c coming in at only slightly lower prices than the iPhone 5s.

Telstra's range of contract prices starts with the iPhone 5c 16GB model at AU$71 per month on a 24-month contract. This includes AU$600 talk value, unlimited texts and 1GB of data. The 16GB iPhone 5s starts at AU$78 per month on the same plan. The same contract terms will get you the 64GB iPhone 5s for AU$90 per month.

Vodafone has also announced its pricing, with entry model prices that come in at AU$4 per month (iPhone 5c 16GB) and AU$6 per month (iPhone 5s 16GB) cheaper for a plan with unlimited calls and texts, as well as 1.5GB of data.

Telstra's highest-level pricing gives you an iPhone 5s 64GB with unlimited calls, texts and 3GB of data for AU$145 per month. From Vodafone, you can get the same iPhone 5s 64GB with unlimited calls, texts and 5GB of data for AU$104 per month — AU$41 better per month.

All of the above prices are based on a 24-month contract, with Vodafone also offering 12-month contract options.

No doubt Vodafone is keen to use the new iPhones as an aggressive marketing tool to regain customers now that it has long-term evolution (LTE) and better general network performance to sing about. Optus pricing is still "coming soon", so we are yet to get a final sense of which network is pushing hardest to use the iPhone launch to the greatest advantage.
