Tellabs executive to retire

Telecom equipment maker Tellabs announced Friday that Brian Jackman, an executive vice president at the company, will retire on Sept. 1 to spend more time with his family. The 60-year-old company veteran first joined Tellabs in 1982 as director of sales and marketing from IBM. Jackman has also headed up all Tellabs' product divisions worldwide since 1998, including optical networking, broadband access and voice-quality enhancement. Jackman currently serves on the board of directors of Stratos Lightwave, a maker of optical components for telecom equipment. He is also on the board of trustees of Gannon University and on the Catholic Charities Board of Advisers.
